Ultrabook fans, take notice of Acers newest ultrabook recently announced at CeBit 2012. Acer's previous ultrabooks, the S3 and S5, has drawn lots of attention as one of the first ultrabooks on the market. Acer is charging full steam ahead with plans of bringing several thin, light, and ultraportable laptops to our homes. The Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 (what a long name) will not only bring users all the convenient hardware and software of previous models, but it will have it's own unique characteristics.
The Timeline Ultra M3 will be considered a high performance ultrabook. This premium design will be powered by the latest Intel Core i processor and will also host a Nvidia GeForce GT640M graphics card. The combination of the upgraded CPU and GPU will ensure users a powerful experience. Furthermore, the Ultra M3 will host a DVD optical drive which is an uncommon feature for most ultrabooks. It's a nice addition for now since it's still cheaper to sell software in DVD format. As the world slowly move to cloud computing, DVD's will soon be phased out.
Another unique feature is a hybrid hard drive. Consumers have the choice between a SSD only drive or SSD/HDD combo drive. We all know the speed SSD offers, but there has been problems with capacity. With the combination of the 2 hard drive options, you get great speed along with mass storage.
The Timeline Ultra M3 will feature a 15 inch display that has energy saving feature to allow your ultrabook to run for 8 hours on a single charge. Acer's Instand On technology will wake your device from hibernation in 1.5 seconds and the Instant Connect will allow you to connect to the internet in 2.5 seconds.
At 20 mm thick, this ultrabook will not be one of the thinnest laptops but if you favor performance over portability, this will be a better choice. If you prefer thin and light, you should consider the S3 or S5.
The Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 will be available worldwide March 2012. Price has not been announced. Stay tuned for updates.
