Affordable tablets has been the buzz around Sprint. Sprint recently announced the ZTE Optik which will retail at $99 with a 2 year contract. The ZTE Optik is not some cheap tablet put together to get subscribers. This device acctually runs a 1.2 GHz Snapdraggon processor and runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb. The Optik will also hosts 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of pre-loaded storage, so it isn't skimping on hardware. The 7 inch screen will support 1280 x 800 resolution and there 2 camera on-board (5mp & 2mp). There is also a microSD slot for removable storage which is very convenient.
Sprint has been one of the few cellular service providers that still offers unlimited data. That will not be an option for the ZTE Optik. Subscribers will sign up for a monthly package of between 1 GB to 12 GB, ranging in price from $20 to $80. Wireless capabilities includes: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G connectivity. I'm a little disappointed that it's 3G I was hoping to see LTE in the Optik.
