With the plethora of tablets on the market today, it's becoming harder to tell them apart from each other. Sony took a chance when they design the Tablet S. This tablet looks and feels different from standard 10 inch tablets. It's shape resembles a folded back magazine. Sony claims that it more comfortable to hold and when the tablet sits on a flat surface, it feels more natural to use the device. Sony has a history of building premium products with high price tags, but with the competitive tablet market will that business strategy work? Let's find out a little more about the Tablet S.
While the hardware specs are pretty standard, there's a few features that is slightly disappointing. First, with Sony's expertise in the digital camera industry, they can do better than the 5MP and 0.3MP cameras. They decided to come up with this unique design then do nothing else to be set apart from the competition. Also, it's disappointing to not find a HDMI port in the Tablet S. Heck, they are putting HDMI ports in Smartphones, so why is it missing in the Tablet S?
Even though there were some missed opportunities with the Tablet S, there are some features that makes the Tablet S a worthy device. Gaming experience have just been enhanced if you own a Playstation 3. Sony has just updated a driver for the tablet and now you can use your PS3 Sixaxis controller with your Tablet S. Currently there are 3rd party manufacturers that produce wireless controllers for various tablets. To be able to use the PS3 controller without having to buy the extra accessory is a nice touch.
Note: To sync your Playstaion 3 controller with the Tablet S, simply connect the controller to the tablet with USB. After the device recognizes the controller you can unplug it and use it wirelessly.
