Can't wait to get your hands on some Playstation Vita? Soon to be released in the US, PSV is one of the most anticipated portable gaming device. Still not sure if you should reserve one before it's release date? Sony has announced several units have been shipped to select retailers for display and demo so you can try out game titles like:
The PSV is already available in part of Asia and Japan. With it's success, Sony is set to release it's portable gaming giant in the US this month. There will be 22 games released with the PSV and 100 more releasing this year. If your favorite game is not available for the Vita, don't worry. You can connect your PSV to your PS3 with Playstaion's Cross Platform Game Play technology. Continue paused games from you PS3 and take it with you on your Vita. You are essentially playing your PS3 through the portable. Pretty convenient huh? Playstation 3 and Vita players can also go head to head with the Cross Platform Game Play.
Here are some the Specs for Playstaion Vita:
Dimensions: 182.0mm x 18.6mm x 83.5mm, CPU: ARM Cortex™-A9 core (4 core), 5 inch OLED multi touch screen with 960 x 544 res, front and rear camera, rear touchpad, Sixaxis motion sensing system, WiFi and GPS support, and Bluetooth enabled.
Ports include: Game slot, memory card slot, SIM card slot for 3G models, headset jack, USB, and DC in.
Some of the pre-loaded apps that ship with the PSV are: Near: social networking, Party: text or voice chat with friends, Friends: list your online/offline friends activities, Chat: share text and photos, Camera: take photos or use augmented reality to play games, Playstation Store: Download games and apps, Remote Play: play your PS3 games on your Vita, Trophies: share your accomplishments with friends, Video Player: play recorded video or downloaded video, Welcome Park: learn how to use the Vita, Web Browser: HTML 5 support, Music Player: import music to your portable, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Skype, Flickr, Netflix.
The keys and buttons are pretty much the same as the PSP. However, the addition of a multi-touch pad on the back surface gives gamers and developers more gameplay options. It could come in handy for throwing a grenade or swinging from a vine. Personally I think it's a great addition.
Playstaion Vita Price: $330 WiFi and $395 for WiFi & 3G (AT&T)
Playstaion Vita Release Date: February 22, 2012
Update: Sony just announced a host of accessories for the PS Vita. Proprietary memory cards, extra batteries, portable chargers, and a PS Vita cradle.
