If have seen the Nokia Lumia 800 you will probably notice that the Lumia 900 has the same design except it's slightly bigger. Lumia 800 is set to be released on Feb. 26 while the 900 is will be released at a later time (rumored late March). Pre-orders were available for a short time but Microsoft withdrew the offers at their retail stores. Microsoft says they will keep us posted regarding release date and price on their Microsoft Store Facebook page. Let's dive a little deeper to see if this phone is worth the wait.
The first thing you will notice is Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. With the pending release of Windows Phone 8, there is still no word on the upgrade path for the Lumia line. The specs for Nokia Lumia 900 is pretty standard. It will sport a 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor with 512 MB RAM. Currently there is only one storage option available which is 16GB. The display is a 4.3 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen producing 400 x 800 resolution. The rear-facing camera is 8 MP with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, and dual-LED flash that's capable of capturing video at 720p with video stabilization. The front-facing camera is 1.3 MP VGA @ 30fps. I/O ports include: microSD, microUSB, and headphone jack. Sensors for the Lumia 900 are: accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
The Nokia Lumia 900 will have 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE network capabilities and also support stereo FM radio with RDS. Software for the 900 includes: music/video player, document viewer/editor, video and photo editor, voice memo, voice command, voice dial, and predictive text input. The current web browser for Windows 7.5 Mango is IE 9 Mobile with HTML 5 that supports Adobe Flash.
If the Nokia Lumia 900 is priced competitively, it will be a hot phone. The design is sharp and the lack of buttons makes the viewable screen more attractive.
