Do you like robot boxing? Well the Bionic Bopper Cars is not exactly like the movie. They are more like Rock'em Sock'em bumper cars. It still looks like a lot of fun even if I don't get to remotely control Ambush or Noisy Boy. Bionic Bopper Cars are motorized boxers that only has one power move, the chin-lifting uppercut.
A driver sits inside the robot's protective steel cage cockpit and uses a thumb-triggered button on two independent joysticks to activate two pneumatic-powered, tire-tread-fisted arms, which throw upward punches at an opposing robot's head. Each time you knock the opponent's head back you score a point. A display mounted on the robot's mid-section show the number of successful punches. The wheels are hidden by rubber bumpers and keeps the opponent at optimal distance for landing devastating blows.
The robot is powered by a Honda engine and the fuel capacity allows for 5 hours of uninterrupted bouts. A built-in rechargeable 12-volt battery provides power for the electronics. The Bionic Bopper Cars are sold by Hammacher Schlemmer and cost $17,000 for the pair. Recommended for ages 8 and up.
