The Asus Zenbook UX31 is the 13 inch version of of the UX21. To be specific it's 13.3 inches with 1600 x 900 resolution. Similar to the UX21, buyers have the option to choose from the UX31-DH52 and the UX31-DH72. The DH52 hosts Intel Core i5 and the DH72 is the Intel Core i7 model. Besides the screen size, one big difference between the UX21 and UX31 is the resolution. 1366 x 768 for the UX21 compared to 1600 x 900 for the UX31.

Notice the upgrade in storage for the DH72. There is double the storage capacity for the DH72 compared to the DH52. There is also an option to upgrade your operating system to Windows 7 Pro. Also, there is a SD card port in both UX31 models which is unavailable in the UX21.
Take note of the batter life as well. The UX31 has 2 more hours of usage time and 1 more week of standby power. The upgraded battery pack is a 6 cell 50 Whrs Polymer Battery. The power supply allows 7 hours of usage and 2 weeks of standby.
The keyboard and touchpad is the same as the UX21 with metallic grey keys and integrated button for the touchpad. There's no backlit keys yet on all the Zenbooks. The same ASUS Super Hybrid Engine II with Instant On Technology is used for the UX31 for incredibaly fast response. Use the Asus PowerWiz utility to know exactly how much time you have left for each application.
One of the features I talked about in the UX21 post was the incrediable surround sound that the Zenbooks offer. The SonicMaster technology combined with the 1600 x 900 resolution makes your Zenbook a super charged media machine.
If you password protect your laptop, this will make your feel like you are in a spy movie. This is a secure and convient way to log into your computer. The camera learns your face in different lighting conditions so when you flip open you ultrabook, it will automatcially log in. The SmartLogon Facial Recognition Access will even recognize you even if you wear headgear. I'm curious as to what will happen if you have an identical twin brother or sister. Will they be able to access your top secret files!!!!
The Zenbook UX31 ranges from $999 - $1399 depending on the options you need. I highly suggest finding a retailer that offers Asus Accidental Protection Program. To find out more about warranty information and protection programs please refer to the UX21 post.
Amazon offers competitve pricing and they are one of the few retailers that Asus has authorized to participate in their Accidental Protection Program. Here are a few UX31 models Amazon offers.
